Franklin is the county seat for Johnson County and is located off I-65 roughly 20 minutes South of Indianapolis. Franklin is named after our Nation’s Founding Father Benjamin Franklin. In this suburban community you can go downtown to enjoy the shops, coffee shops, restaurants, and the academic institution of Franklin College. Some of the other great attractions include the Johnson County courthouse, viewing the older homes in the area, visiting Franklin College, going to the art craft theater, playing at the parks, walking/hiking on the trails, and swimming in the pools.
Since Franklin is in a great location and is very business friendly they have received companies from all over the World, including 5 Japanese businesses. There are 5 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 1 high school in Franklin along with a career center (Central Nine), Franklin College, and a Special Services school. Their mission is “It is the mission of the Franklin community school corporation in corporation with the home and community, to provide all students with a well-defined curriculum and a broad-based program of instruction and a nurturing environment that will ensure the opportunity to acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to become life-long learners and responsible contributors to society.
